That’s all she wrote folks! My practicum with Rock 104 and 96.5 CKFM has come to a close. It went by fast, I learned a lot and I’m thankful to CAB-K for taking me in. Just like weeks prior, I voice tracked on Rock 104 from 1 to 4 and wrote news stories on local stuff that was going on. I mentioned last week that I wanted some feed back on the stuff I was doing. And after bugging them a few times to listen to my show to tell me what they thought, and I got some feedback! Bernd got back to me (He told me to say hi to everyone for him, he misses his SAIT instructors. So, Hello! on behalf of Bernd.) and said that my news stories were solid. Which was nice to hear, news writing was something I really didn’t mind at all. For my voice tracking, Bernd said my break content was very good in keeping it local and fun. The one criticism he gave me was trying to fine tune my sound a little bit to have it be more engaging to become a real personable host for the people of Olds. I also heard back from Cory, who is the program director. Cory said he really liked my voice tracking breaks and how I was able to keep it local without being there in Olds. He also got to hear a lot of my production since Cory does a show on 96.5 CKFM where my production work aired on. Cory said he was impressed with the work and said it was industry level. For my last week of on-air, I was definitely more relaxed than I was in passed weeks and had more fun. Overall I enjoyed my practicum, everyone I worked with was very helpful in making me feel comfortable with what I was doing. If there were a job opening at CAB-K I’d be happy to work there! That’s a wrap on the practicum! Thank you for following me on this 4 week journey! – Brandon Smedley
